Following a weekend of rumors regarding their future together, Heidi Klum and R&B singer Seal confirmed Sunday night they are splitting after nearly seven years of marriage.

In a statement to People magazine, the couple said, "While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate. We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition."

Klum and Seal married in 2005 and had made a tradition of renewing their vows every year. They have three biological children, ages six, five, and two. Seal also adopted Klum's seven-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

TMZ.com got the rumor mill churning on Saturday, when it cited sources who said Klum will file divorce papers in Los Angeles as early as this week, citing irreconcilable differences. People magazine and Us Weekly subsequently reported that the 38-year-old model/Project Runway star and the 48-year-old Seal had been fighting a lot but had not made a decision to break up. Those reports came before the couple's announcement Sunday night.

A tweet sent by the four-time Grammy award winner on Friday initially fueled speculation their marriage is over when he simply wrote, "The End."

If I could have bet money on anyone making it, I would have bet on Heidi and Seal.  They seemed so happy, putting each other and family first, beating the Hollywood odds.  Sad.
