A police dashboard video recording of Randy Travis' DUI arrest on February 6 in Sanger, Texas shows the singer acting surprised and asking, “Are you kidding me?” when an officer informs him he’s going to jail. Authorities say the six-time Grammy winner had an open bottle of wine with him and smelled of alcohol when his vehicle was spotted parked in front of a church at 1:30 in the morning.
In the dashboard video, the officer is heard telling Travis, “You’re going to jail for public intoxication." The singer replies, “Really...Are you kidding me?” When the officer says, “No, sir, I’m not going to kid ya,” Travis again says, “You’re kidding me?” The police officer replies, “No. I’m going to be completely honest with you,” and proceeds to handcuff the singer.
Travis was booked on a class C misdemeanor and released. He later issued a statement saying, “I apologize for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl. I'm committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions.”
