Keith Urban has been one of the top country stars in America for a decade now, but you may be surprised to learn he's just now reaching superstar status in his native Australia. Keith appears on the cover of Australia's GQ magazine's August/September issue and credits his gig on their version of The Voice with helping him reach the masses Down Under.
Part of Keith's slow rise in Australia has to do with preconceived notions about country music there. Keith says, "The Voice has offered an opportunity to connect in a different way and I hope now people check out the gigs because that’s the real show for me… and it ain’t played on a planet of 10-gallon hats.”

Keith has done a lot of work on himself since going through rehab a few years back. One of the things he's always working on his attitude about himself.
“Negativity and doubt are always creeping into my life and having to be kept at bay."
Luckily, Keith has his Oscar-winning wife Nicole Kidman by his side to encourage him and get him out of that negative head space.
"Nic is great at calling me on it," Keith says, "and our marriage is at the stage where she doesn’t have to say anything. I hear myself prattling on with negative crap and her loaded silence shuts me up."
