Today is Dolly Parton's 64th birthday, and while she may enjoy some cake and a few friends over to celebrate her special day, the one thing she will do for sure is write a song. Dolly says it's a tradition she upholds every birthday. While Parton dapples in everything from acting, performing, Broadway and more, she says it's writing that gives her the most joy professionally:
"Every time I get in a creative mood I get excited because I feel like good, bad or indifferent I feel like I'm gonna leave something in the world today that wasn't there yesterday. So, I love writing songs, being able to express myself and hopefully be able to speak for other people too."
I like this tradition! I may have to start writing a song on my birthday every year too. No one is saying it has to be a GOOD song... ~Vanessa
