Chris Young is taking part in this weekend's Sound and Speed event in Nashville for the first time, and he'll be going as a NASCAR fan as well as a country star. The annual event brings drivers and country singers together to meet with the fans. Chris says, quote, "It's just my job not to try and pester the drivers while they're there."
Chris is looking forward to meeting one of his heroes, Dale Earnhardt Jr, this weekend. He'll also reconnect with driver Tony Steward, whom he met briefly at a recent race in Michigan. Chris says, quote, 'I'm gonna actually try and track him down this week and say hi...I'm a really big fan of him." Chris will be joined by the likes of Josh Turner and Jason Michael Carroll this weekend along with drivers such as Carl Edwards, Kasey Kahne and Michael Waltrip.
For the first time ever, the Grand Ole Opry is teaming up with Sound and Speed for a special edition of Opry at the Ryman tonight in Music City. Kyle Petty's band will perform along with Vince Gill, Hank Williams Jr, Chris Young, Jason Michael Carroll and Danny Gokey. Proceeds from Sound and Speed benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and Nashville's Victory Junction Gang Camp for chronically ill children.
