I'm Terry Stevens, UP ALL NIGHT!!!!!!
You don't know how long I've been waiting to say those words.
Wait, yes you do. Sheesh, what was I thinking?
I was thinking that the night shift needs another way to score some WDEZ Club Points. I was also thinking that you might like a behind the scenes look at the thought process that goes into a radio bit.
Before I started filling in for the afternoon shift, I was doing 2 Keywords a night: The Bonus and Terry's Triple Play Keyword. On Thursdays, I would also add Terry's Keyword Comedy Club to the mix.
The afternoon shift has 2 additional Keywords, the 3:40 and 7:40. That's 5000 more points than I was used to giving away. I got used to it fast. In fact, I enjoyed it.
The problem I faced was, "How do I give away more WDEZ Club Points?"
ANSWER: "Duh. Just give 'em away, dummy."
Yes, but how?
The WDEZ Club Rules only allow me one "gimme" Bonus Keyword a night. The rest have to involve a game or feature.
I already have a word game in Terry's Triple Play Keyword, so word games are out.
I love the Keyword Comedy Club, but it is WAY too labor intensive to become a daily piece, so that's out too.
Trivia is always a popular piece, but it comes with a couple of issues:
One, Lee and Nikki already have a Trivia bit.
Two... How can I put this? Trivia is too easy of an answer to my problem. I mean, really. How much do YOU really want yet ANOTHER trivia game on the radio? One's fine. Two's okay, I guess. When you get to three, that's just plain lazy. Not only that, but I already have one "brainbender" game with the TTPK. Asking you to Google all over God's green Earth for 5000 more points would be totally lame of me.
Frankly, you deserve better than that from me. I get to live a childhood dream every time you listen to my ridiculous nonsense on the radio and I'll be damned before I "just throw trivia at the problem."
So what does that leave?
Well, I could do a numbers game. However, Lee and Nikki have used NASCAR/Packer/Brewers math as a bit before and I don't want to take that away from their toolbox. Plus, that would just call for more Googling on your part.
Hmmm. What do you like about WDEZ? Well, you like the music. In fact, you tell us exactly what you like on a weekly basis. What's the best part of Country Music? I think for a lot of folks, the lyrics are what seperates country from the rest of the musical pack. Hmmmm. Lyrics. Singing. Keywords.
EUREKA!

Much like the mind of their host, Terry's "Eureka Lightbulbs" have serious issues...
You like the music. You like the lyrics. You probably even sing along sometimes. What if you could get 5000 WDEZ Club Points from one of the words in a song? What if I ask you a question about part of the the next song's lyrics? All you have to do is listen to the song (which you were going to do anyway) to get the answer.
For example, let's say the next song is Tim McGraw's "Don't Take the Girl". My question would be something like, "How old was Johnny in the first verse of the song?" You would just punch in the answer, in this case "8", for 5000 WDEZ Club Points!
It's a simple game that anyone can play. Plus, it rewards you for doing something you were going to do anyway. You know, listening to music. It has the added bonus of giving a new perspective on a song you may have heard a few dozen or few hundred times.
PERFECT!
I'll call it "Terry's Sing-A-Long Bonus Keyword" and do it between 10:25 and 10:45 tonight (and then do it at random times after that).
Your TTPK Hint for Friday is: "Say it. Don't..."
Your TTPK Hint for Sunday is: "final"
Your Blog Keyword for today is: "newgame4U".
Be Cool,
TS
