There will be millions of dollars in lost productivity this week as even non-basketball fans become experts at filling out there brackets. Coke Zero even made a commercial about how it's your duty to share a bit of your concentration this week and revel in the excitement and drama of the NCAA basketball tournament. Just remember a #16 seed has never beaten a #1 and all four #1 seeds rarely make it to the Final Four.
The Badgers are a #5 seed and will play Mississippi in Kansas City on Friday at 11:40. Marquette is a #3 seed and will face Davidson on Thursday in Lexington Kentucky.
Wausau East grad Dave Paulsen's Bucknell Bison will face Butler in Lexington on Thursday.
The Badger hockey team advanced to the WCHA Final Five and will face Mnakato State on Thursday in St. Paul. The winner will play #1 seed St. Cloud State on Friday.
The Bucks beat Orlando Sunday 115-109 behind Monta Ellis who scored 39. He scored 25 in the 4th quarter. Milwaukee will host Portland on Tuesday as they try to make up ground and move up in the playoff seedings. They dont want to face the Heat in the first round...Miami won their 22nd in a row on Sunday.
If youre a Heart or Led Zeppelin fan you'll want to make plans to catch the Heart tour this summer. The Wilson sisters are bringing Jason Bonham's Led Zep Experience along as their opening act and will then join them for the final 30 minutes of the main show for a Led Zep tribute. You can catch the show July 29th at Ravinia in Chicago or at the Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis on August 1st.
Watched a very interesting documentary of the band U2 over the weekend. Its called "From The Sky Down" and it centers on the making of the album 'Achtung Baby" which Bono says came at a time when the band was close to breaking up.
Songs of The Day (from my I-Pod). here are a couple of tunes from that album
The Fly-U2 (1991) Bono described this as 'four men chopping done the Joshua Tree". The band goes in a different direction...harder edged and sampling the German Industrial sound.
Mysterious Ways-U2 (1991) the evolution of this song in the movie was very interesting. Adam Clayton came up with the funky bass part but the rest of the band couldnt do anything with it. they kept playing around until the Edge figures out the guitar part that worked. This is pretty funky.
