I've had a chance in this business to talk with many players, coaches and broadcasters. Certainly interviewing  Packer legends Bart Starr and Herb Adderly have been high points...when the MLB All-Star game was in Milwaukee I talked with many of the players I had grown up idoliizing...guys like Hank Aaron & Brooks Robinson....I had an extended conversation with NBA Hall-Of-Famer Lenny Wilkens at a Bucks game one night...But I don't think I've ever looked forward more to an interview than one I'm going to have tomorrow with the original radio voice of the Milwaukee Bucks Eddie Doucette. For those of us of a certain age, Eddie Doucette was basketball. I can't tell you the number of times I fell asleep listening to him call a Bucks game on my little transistor radio. I'm sure part of the reason I fell in love with radio was the work of Eddie Doucette.  I still have an LP record of the Bucks championship season which feature a bunch of his radio calls. And boy was he an original. He had names for everything...he was the first to label Alcindor's signature shot the "Sky Hook"...playing in the lane was the "toaster" and when Flynn Robinson or Johnny Mac hit from long-range the cry of "Bango" poured from the radio. And he had names for everybody...Robinson was the "Electric Eye"...Bobby Dandridge was "Greyhound"...Lucius Allen was "The Jackrabbit" and my favorite Buck, underrated forward Greg Smith was known as "Captain Marvel". Even little used backup center Dick Cunningham had a name...he was the "Cement Mixer" which even he would admit described his play.

Doucette was named to the media wing of the Basketball Hall Of Fame this past weekend and it is certainly an honor that was well earned. I'll be talking with him tomorrow and will post the interview as a podcast here on the website around 11am. You should also plan on listening to the Bucks-Clippers game on Wednesday March 6th on Foxsports AM1390 & FM 93.9. Doucette will team with current Bucks broadcaster Ted Davis for the game. Doucette will do play-by-play for the 2nd and 3rd quarters and it should be interesting to see what he comes up with.

Once again Mat Gamel had a chance to play with the injury to Corey Hart and once again his balky knee did him in. Gamel will miss the entire season after re-injuring his surgically repaired ACL on Saturday. The Brewer brass seems to think that middle infielders Alex Gonzalez and Bobby Crosby can fill the role until Hart's return. Wouldnt they be better off giving minor league phenom Hunter Morris a few at-bats in the early going to get his feet wet at the major league level?

The high school hockey sectionals are tonight and one of the big games has Wausau West hosting DC Everest at Marathon Park. The Evergreens have already beaten West once this season. You can hear the game on Foxsports AM1390 & FM 93.9 at 7pm
