The run of great tv shows is continuing. There are alot of keepers out there and with shows on different schedules there always seems to be something good on. The top of a pretty good pack right now would have to be "Homeland" on Showtime. It won the Emmy for best drama and also swept the top acting categories with Claire Danes and Damian Lewis winning Best Actress and Best Actor. The show is based on an Israeli show called "Prisoners of War" and tells the tale of an American marine captured by a terrorist and turned into a sleeper agent when he is returned to America. The other half of the story is the pursuit of the agent by a mentally damaged CIA agent played by Danes. The stories of our counter terrorism war are told without rose colored glasses. We are the "good guys" but not all the time. We get to see the damage inflicted by the terrorists and also the damagae inflicted by our decisons as well. Lewis and Danes are wonderous as this psychological battle continues...it doesnt help that the two are attracted to each other. They are ably supported by old pros Mandy Patinkin and Jamey Sheridan.
The first season is available on DVD and if you don't have Showtime I would heartily endorse you to find the DVD ...it wont take you long to get hooked.
What else am I watching?....Boardwalk Empire (HBO), Person of Interest (CBS) (excellent), Hell On Wheels (just finished it's second season on AMC), Copper (BBC America), The Last Resort (ABC), Vegas, Elementary, Fringe (final season on Fox) Strike Back (an action packed British look at the war on terror on Cinemax) and old favorites like Bones & Leverage.
Also waiting for the return of Justified and of course Mad Men.
