The Milwaukee Bucks begin training camp today as they prepare for a season that portends good things. The team made some moves in the off-season to solve some of their biggest problems. They couldnt stop anybody inside after the injury to andrew Bogut last year and so the addition of Sam Dalembert, Joel Pryzbilla & rookie John Henson should help the defense immediatly. Also the drafting of shooting guard Doren Lamb adds size to a small backcourt. Bucks coach Scott Skiles and GM John Hammond are in the last years of their contracts and Brandon Jennings is as well. If Milwaukee does not return to the playoffs after a two year abscence tyou can expect major changes to prevail starting at the top. But in my opinion, with the changes and the re-signing of emerging star Irsan Ilyasova it's time to "Fear The Deer" once again.
I know, I know...nobody but me cares about the Bucks but I find the pro game much better than the college game....and I also know I'm one of the few that holds that opinion. I just find the talent level so much better and the speed of the game so much higher that when it's played well...the pro game is fantastic.
It still amazes me to see the way the baseball playoff field is shaking out. The Oakland A's clinched a wild card last night and still have a shot at the AL West title. The Nationals clinched the NL East but unless they win it all, their decision to shut down Strasburg will be even more vilified...as it should be. The Tigers are in and look like a strong contender to go all the way. But the team that nobody is talking about is Cincinnatti. The Reds have everything you need to make a long playoff run. This should be one of the more fun playoff groups of teams in some time...even if my Red Sox and Brewers are watching from home.
Let the questions continue about Tony Romo. Has there ever been a time when more teams had major question marks at quarterback. I include the Cowboys, Chiefs, Jets, Browns, Titans, Jaguars, Eagles, you could also throw in the Seahawks, Dolphins, Cardinals (I'm not convinced about Kolb yet), Broncos & Chargers & Lions.
Happy Birthday Don McLean 67...and Sting is 61. Feeling old yet?
Songs of The Day (from my I-pod)
King Of Nothing-Seals & Crofts (1974) the first song I ever played on WIFC back in the fall of 1975.
King Of Pain-Police (1983) they certainly were original and Sting's voice stood out from the tons of new-wave dreck that the late 70's & early 80's produced
