The governing bodies of golf will announce today whether players will still be allowed to anchor a club to their body during a stroke. The USGA and the R&A have been thinking about banning the practice which saw the rise of long putters and belly putters. If enacted the rule would not go into effect until 2016. The use of the "belly" putter is supposed to help golfers who get the "yips" and has certainly become more popular on the pro tour. 3 of the last 4 majors have been won by a player using the technique. Ernie Els who was against their use for years, won the US Open using a belly putter and has changed his mind. Plus he says using a belly putter isnt for everyone and it takes alot of practice to use it effectively. This new rule will not effect most weekend golfers but on the big money tours it will certainly have an impact. As far as I'm concerned....the use of the clubs is fine. With the constant improvement in golf technology...the advent of huge metal woods and special clubs to hit from rough and bunkers have had much more influence on the game than the belly putter ever will.

The Big Ten is off to a good start in this years Big Ten-ACC Challenge, winning 4 out of 6 last night. #1 Indiana routed North Carolina to lead the way. The Badgers welcome Tony Bennett and the Virginia Cavaliers to the Kohl Center tonight. look for Merrill native Paul Jespersen on the court for Virginia. You can hear the game on WSAU with the pre-game show at 5pm.

The Bucks have a good challenge tonight as they face the New York Knicks at the Bradley Center. You can hear the game on Foxsports1390 AM and 93.9 FM at 6:40.

Watching a very interesting documentary of the Rolling Stones on HBO. Its to celebrate their 50 years in the business and it's only using archival footage. The boys do give a current interview but no cameras were allowed in the room. I would think they want people to remember them as they were not as they are. The first thing that struck me was I forgot that Brian Jones was really a pretty good guitar player and a young Jagger really did have the "moves".
