The Milwaukee Brewers beat the front-running Dodgers last night but that wasnt what Brewer fans will be talking about today. No, its another injury that will have fans grinding their teeth and asking what the hell is going on. Jonathon Lucroy, who has been the Brewers best player so far this year will miss 4-6 weeks after breaking his hand in his hotel room on Sunday. he was looking for a lost sock under the bed when a suitcase fell on his hand. Can you believe that? What else can happen to this snake-bit team? Earlier in the day the team had put Travis Ishikawa on the DL as well with a strained quad. The team has already lost Alex Gonzalez and Chris Narveson for the season and have Mat Gamel, Marco Estrada, Cesar Izturiz on the DL. They just got Carlos Gomez back as well. I know in juries are a part of the game but when a team has this many this close together it makes it tough to compete on a nightly basis. Martin Maldonado was called up from AAA and he will start tonight...no surprise...George Kottaras is banged up too.
Don't forget...Woodchucks baseball begins this week. The Chucks start on the road for two games Wednesday and Thursday in Eau Claire. The home opener is Friday against Green Bay. We will have all the games on Foxsports 1390 and selected Sunday games on WSAU as well. Jim Sannes will be back in the booth again this season and I will join him as my Legion coaching schedule allows including Friday night.
A big day of high school tournament sports as the spring season winds down. Golf sectionals around the state. A large number of area golfers will be playing for a chance to go to State. Baseball regionals today...I'll be in Antigo to bring you the East-Antigo game on Foxsports1390 at 4:20. There are girls softball regionals today as well.
Happy Birthday to Melissa Etheridge who turns 51. Here are a couple of Ethridge tunes as the songs of the day
I'm The Only One-Melissa Etheridge (1993) a top ten hit and her biggest song
Bring Me Some Water-Melissa Etheridge (1993) "Janis light"? she can crank it up no doubt
