It was nice for a struggling Milwaukee Brewer offense to see Jason Marquis on the mound for the Minnesota Twins on Sunday. Marquis had given up 9 homers in 34 innings coming into the game. You had to think that the Brewers had a chance to break out of their slump. 17 hits and 16 runs later we had our answer. Jonathon Lucroy is enjoying a breakout season at the plate and celebrated his move to the cleanup spot with a seven rbi day which included his first career grand slam. Zach Greinke was his usual dominant self and a four game losing streak came to an end. Now remember, it was only one game and one that got away from the Twins early. The Giants pitching staff is coming to town for the next three. But any positive offensive performance has to be hailed as a breakthrough at this point. And since the Cardinals havent been playing that well, the Brewers havent played themselves out of contention, despite their poor start.
Lebron and Dwayne said not so fast. Don't declare us dead yet. I watched much of the 3rd and 4th quarters of yesterdays game and the two superstars played like everyone expects them to. They dominated Indiana during that stretch and Miami has evened the series with the Pacers. Will they win it all...who knows...theyre supporting cast is not very good..and there are two very good teams lurking in the West. Hard to pick against the San Antonio Spurs right now. They are not the sexy pick, but certainly play better together than any team still alive.
Its a busy high school sports day. Regionals begin in Track, Tennis & Golf. The regular season enters a final week for baseball & softball & soccer. I'll be in Rhinelander today as the Wausau East Lumberjacks take on the Hodags. Pre game at 4:20 on Foxsports1390.
Didnt get to see the Preakness on Saturday but its always fun when you have a winning horse that comes from behind in the back stretch and I'll Have Another seems to be that horse. Now can he do it in the long race at Belmont Park? Can we see the first Triple Crown Horse since Affirmed? I know I'll be watching.
Another pop star of the 70's has passed away. Robin Gibb was the high pitched falsetto that you heard on many of the Bee Gees best loved recordings. Here are a couple of tunes to rememeber Gibb who died from cancer on Sunday at 62.
Oh Darling-Robin Gibb (1978) from the soundtrack to the movie "Sgt Peppers Hearts Club Band". The movie wasnt very good but some of the covers of the Beatles classics were solid including this one
I Started A Joke-Bee Gees (1968) Robin sings this one. Check out the hair cut. They actually thought that was good look.
