Suspended Green Bay Packer Johnny Jolly wants another chance. Jolly wants the NFL to re-instate him. He has been suspended since the end of the 2009 season. He claims to be clean after spending some time in prison for possession and sale of codiene in his native Texas. He'll be on probation for the next ten years. Now, if Jolly can get into any semblance of game shape he certainly could help short term. The Packers face starting the season with Anthony Hargrove and Mike Neal under league suspensions, which leaves them a bit short in the D-line. But remember, Jolly already had one chance. He was given a light sentence for his first codiene related arrest and then was picked up again after a poster with his picture was circulated showing him drinking, which violated his parole. This isnt the sharpest tool in the drawer...and don't get me wrong , I hope he stays clean and sober...but do the Packers need anymore distractions as they get ready for a run at the Super Bowl. In this instance, let some other team give Jolly "another" chance.

Closers are over-rated and over paid. Some teams have figured that out...some havent. John Axford blew his fourth save of the season last night...2 more than he blew all of last year. Lots of different guys have become elite closers over the years. It is counter productive for team like Milwaukee to tie up big bucks on any guy who could have a short shelf life. If a guy is struggling...try someone else once in awhile. Guys will tell you they like to know their role at all times. Sometimes it may be better to ride the hot guy and not worry about player "feelings" when it comes to roles. Whatever they do, the bullpen situation is quickly becoming intolerable.

Merrill High School has a new football coach . The Bluejays plucked assistant coach Nick Sturm from Wausau West to fill the spot left vacant when Tom Tourtillot left in June for Rice Lake. Sturm has been the Defensive coordinator for the Warriors.

Marshfield pitchers were dealing last night as Post 54 beat Wausau Post 10 in Legion baseball 7-2. Elliot Ashbeck and Cale Cuddie combined to strike out 16 in the victory.
