For much of the early part of Tiger Woods career it seemed as if he was coasting downhill. Everything looked like it came easy, which made it easy for us to overlook his work ethic and drive to be the best golfer ever. It seemed like his chase of Jack Nicklaus for the most major victories in a creer was a fore-gone conclusion. Not anymore. As Woods has aged, suffered numerous dibilitaing injuries and his messy personal life, the quest for his grail of passing Nicklaus seems more unlikely all the time. That quest continues today at the Olympic Club in San Francisco as the US Open begins. The tournament dirctors have done him no favors by putting him with rival Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson for the first two rounds. Woods hardly ever plays well when paired with Phil and you can bet it annoys him to no end that this pairing was put together for the TV folks.
Even if Woods manages to put together enough late career majors to pass Jack...the title of best player ever will still be in dispute. Remember that along with all of his major wins, Nicklaus also finished second 19 times in major tournaments.
The Brewer bullpen is starting to annoy manager Ron Roenicke. He sounded perturned in his post game comments last night after Axford and Loe melted down again. The two teams finish there series tonight before the Brewers head to Minneapolis for the weekend.
In the long history of Giants baseball...they ahd never had a perfect game until last night. Matt Cain tossed the perfecto against Houston. Is it just me...or does it seem the pitchers are way ahead of the hitters this year?
The Stevens Point girls softball team begins State Tournament play today in Madison as they take on Germantown in a D-1 quarterfinal.
The Wausau Post 10 Bulldogs American Legion team continued their good start last night with a 3-1 win over RSW. Good defense, solid pitching from Brett Ziegel & Ryan Zweck and a three run homer from Logan Taylor did the job for Post 10 as they move to 5-1 on the season. They play in Merrill tonight.
