The aging Boston Celtics (and you can't mention the Celtics these days without using the term "aging") have defied expectations and now have the Miami Heat on the verge of elimination. Kevin Garnett and an ailing Ray Allen have, along with Celtic legend Paul Pierce, oiled up their creaking joints for one more run at a title. Rajon Rondo may be the sparkplug that runs this engine now...but Garnett and Pierce are the gasoline that fuel this engine. With Garnett & Allen presumably gone after this season, Celtic fans are hoping fo one more bit of magic from the Big Three. And can we now retire that term? Bird, McHale and Parish were the original...Pierce, Allen & Garnett can lay claim to the name...but Lebron, Wade & Bosh?? Uh no.

BTW, I think Lebron James is taking too much heat from writers, fans and pundits over the Heat's struggles. James put together what may be the most transcendent individual season ever...but in a team game like basketball...the great ones are going to be judged on championships...it may not always be fair...but it is reality.

What's up with the Brewers struggles at home? Why can't they re-capture the success at Miller Park that they had last year? They better figure it out. They have a chance in the month of June to get back in the race with a schedule that favors them...can they do it? Methinks they can...but Gallardo has to start pitching like the ace he was expected to be.

The Woodchucks have won two straight on big hits in the bottom of the ninth. The latest was Mike Bernal's two run homer last night as the Chucks rallied to beat La Crosse. This team is pretty good and they still have more help arriving soon. They play in Rapids tonight and the next home game is Thursday also against the Rafters. You can hear the games on Foxsports1390

Congrats to Stevens Point, Pittsville and Greenwood as they earned trips to the State High School Baseball Tournament next week at Fox Cities Stadium SPAsh won the Valley title this year and have a solid team but the field at state looks pretty strong.

DC Everest came close but lost to Bayport 2-1 despite getting a two-hitter from Josh Nielsen. He also struck out 13 in the hard-luck loss.
