Christmas Day is usually a lazy day around the house. Since the kids have grown there isnt the mad scramble to open gifts in the morning. People drop in through the day...we eat too much for the second day in a row...try to avoid too many cookies and pieces of candy (unsucessfully) and for me it's a day to watch basketball. The NBA uses Christmas Day as their signature day. There is no competition from other sports so hoop heads get five games from noon to midnight. And its usually the best teams and top stars that are featured. Yesterday was no different. The feast began with the Boston Celtics shutting down Brooklyn. The Celtics may be aging but they can still put togther some good defense and did that yesterday. Brooklyn now heads to Milwaukee for a back-to-back vs a well rested Bucks team. Milwaukee should win tonight. Next up was the Knicks playing the Lakers in LA. New York was sporting their ugly all orange uni's and after running out to a lead, let Kobe and the Lakers back in for a comeback win. Steve Nash is back for LA and even though they havent played well to start the season, they will get better as the pieces start to mesh...but Nash needs to stay healthy. You then got a chance to see Lebron James and Kevin Durant square off in a rematch of last years finals. The Heat are not a one man team...Dwanye Wade, Chris Bosh, Shane Battier, Ray Allen and Mario Chalmers all contributed in a 103-97 win that saw 5 technicals including James & Durant. The remaining two games saw Houston dump the Bulls and the Clippers win their 13th staight game, knocking off Denver , in the second game of the day at the Staples Center. More hoops than you could have wanted...and lots of quality as well.

Sorry to see Leverage get cancelled. The show could be uneven at times but the cast chemistry was very good and the combination of 'Oceans 11 and Mission Impossible" had a pretty good run.
Songs of The Day (from my I-pod)
Lies-Knickerbockers (1966) If you didnt know better, you would swear this is the Beatles.
Life During Wartime-Talking Heads (1979) a new wave classic featured in the excellent concert film 'Stop Making Sense" in 1983.
