Full Throttle

Packer coach Mike McCarthy says the team will play full out for the next two weeks with the hope of improving their seed in the playoffs. The Packers have a chance at the two seed which would mean a first round bye...something they could use to heal up. McCarthy also says he doesnt believe the team was flat last year after resting some regulars and then lost to the Giants in the playoffs. He says the Giants just flat out beat the Pack that day. I've of the mind that even if you have nothing to play for...you play your starters until the game is out of reach and take your chances with injuries. The winning mindset and keeping a sharp edge mitigates the chance of an injury. Of course it appears that it will be a moot point this year as the team will have something to go after the next two weeks.

More injuries for the pack. TJ Lang and Alex Green both sat out of practice on Wednesday with concussion symtoms.

The Bucks have problems with good teams. Memphis beat Milwaukee by ten last night. They head to Boston now for a Friday night matchup with the Celtics.

Congrats to the UWGB mens basketball team for pulling the upset of Marquette last night 49-47 at the Resch Center.

I would think that all high school sports will be cancelled tonight because school has been cancelled today. Check with your school to make sure.

The Win Brockmeyer Scholarship is being awarded this morning. It goes to the top senior football player nominated by their schools. The finalists this year are Logan Taylor of East, Ryan Fay of West, Matthew Heeg of Newman and Jared Pankow of Everest.

I'm going to be off for a few days so I'll wish you a Merry Christmas now and hope to see you around this weekend. I'll be raising a glass of Christmas cheer at Loppnows Saturday night after 8 if you're in the area. Its the annual Wausau East hockey alumni game and my son Wade and his buddies will see if they remember how to play. The stories at Loppnows get taller every year.
