Robert Griffin III did it again last night...leading his team to victory with a late td as Washington beat the New York Giants. Griffin is the favorite to win this years NFL Rookie of The Year Award but he's not the only possibility. Andrew Luck was the #1 overall pick and has led the Colts to the brink of the playoffs with hardly any running game and not alot of reciever help. Plus the Colts were horrible last year, he's replacing a legend and his coach is battling leukemia. The battle has raged most of the season as to who is better. And Seattle rookie Russell Wilson at least has to be mentioned. Here's a guy who came out of Wisconsin with a glittering senior year but wasnt even supposed to start...he beat out a high priced free agent for the starting job and has led the Seahawks to the edge of the playoffs as well. Wilson won't win but he certainly has been one of the most fascinating stories of the year.
Luck or Griffin? If both make the playoffs I would say Griffin but as a long term quarterback to build a franchise around I would take Luck. I don't think Griffin stays in one piece for the long term.
The Bucks continue their inconsistent play losing in New Orleans last night. The D was not good enough and they have now dropped 6 -8 to negate their strong start. They play in San Antonio on Wednesday night.
The Badger men's basketball team is back in action tonight hosting Nebraska-Omaha. You can hear the game on WSAU at 6.
It's a high school doubleheader on Foxsports1390 & 93.9 FM . First up DC Everest boys basketball at Wisconsin Rapids at 7:15 followed by Wausau East hockey at Stevens Point.
The season has ended on Boardwalk Empire and the final two episodes were excellent pieces of storytelling. The Prohibition era drama features a fascinating array of characters...mosty real people...who rose and fell during the bootlegging days of the Roaring 20's. If you are looking for a series to get into on DVD this would be a fine choice...three seasons in the books with the promis of more to come next year.
Wisconsin Valley Lutheran High School in Kronenwetter suffered major water damage after a main broke and flooded much of the school. If you can help with cleanup in any way it would be greatly appreciated. This is a fine school (my youngest son is a graduate) and they operate on a shoestring budget...hopefully their insurance company can cover the damage.
Songs of The Day (from my I-pod)
Let It Shine-Stills/Young Band (1976) Steve & Neil got together between CSNY stints to record this album and plan a tour around it. I had tickets to see them in Milwaukee with Poco and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Unfortunatly two weeks before the Wisconsin appearance they got into a fight in South Carolina and cancelled the rest of the tour. The album, "Long May You Run" has some interesting stuff including this Neil song.
Let Me Be Your Teddy Bear-Elvis Presley (1957) a #1 smash for the King which was also used in the movie "Loving You". Presley in full "Pelvis " mode
