The New Jersey Nets have been unable to win many games in the NBA this season. In fact they were flirting with the all-time mark for futility for much of the season. That would belong to the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers who went 9-73 on the season. The Nets avoided that fate by beating the San Antonio Spurs last night. In reality the Nets havent been as bad as their record. They have some decent players including former Badger Devin Harris and big man Brook Lopez who has been a real eye-opener at this level. With a new deep-pocketed owner coming in it's not inconcievable that this team could turn it around as early as next year. There are alot of good players availaable on the free agent market this summer and if the Nets sign one or two they could make some noise as they move to Brooklyn.
The Brewers are really scuffling right now. I know the games don't count but you would like to see the team head toward opening day getting better and not worse. They arent hitting...Braun has a stiff back and the pitching has been spotty. Gallardo will start on Monday against the Rockies
Don't forget...High school baseball this Thursday on Foxsports1390 WRIG. Wausau East opens the season with a double-header at Adams-Friendship. I'll have all the action beginning at 2:45.
Songs of the Day (from my I-pod)
Everyday People-Sly & Family Stone (1968) their first #1...this joyful slice of late 60's soul counteracted some of the bad news emanating from one of the worst years of American History. "Different Strokes for Different Folks"...good words to live by.
Everything Must Go-Steely Dan (2003) Title track from their last LP. Not as accesable as their earlier stuff but has a few good tunes including this one.
