The basketball team couldn't get it done but the Badger Hockey team has made it to the finals. They earned a trip to the Frozen four in Detroit by beating St Cloud State on Saturday night avenging an earlier loss to the Huskies in the WCHA Tournament last week. Wisconsin has been getting good goal tending and feature two finalists for the Hobey Baker award (think Heisman Trophy of hockey) in Brendan Smith and Blake Geoffrion (grand-son of the infamous Boom Boom Geoffrion of HNL and Miller Lite commercial fame) . The Badgers will take on newbie Rochester Institute of Technology who are in the finals just 5 years after becoming a Division 1 Hockey school.
The Bucks won a tough overtime game over the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday. a big day for Brandon Jennings and Andrew Bogut got back from his sore back. Carlos Delfino was let out of the hospital after his injury Friday night. he's listed as Day-to Day.
Congrats to Tom Weinkauf and his crew of Cardinals as they win their 2nd State Basketball title. They hammered Black Hawk on Saturday with a stifling defense and well balanced offensive attack. With the final games of the winter season completed it's time to think Spring and with the good weather a number os area baseball & softball teams will get outside this week. I'll have Wausau East in a doubleheader with Adams-Friendship on Thursday afternoon at 3 on Foxsports 1390 WRIG.
Yesterday was Fantasy baseball Draft day. I know it's geeky but it's also alot of fun for a baseball fan and I've been playing in this AL only league since the 80's. My team is pretty good featuring Evan Longoria, Derek Jeter, Tori Hunter, Magglio Ordonez, Joakim Soria and Robinson Cano.
Songs of the Day (from my I-pod)
Everyday I Write The Book-Elvis Costello (1983) he called it a "bad smokey robinson type song but it became a hit for Costello and is really a pop pleasure.
Everybody's Out Of Town-BJ Thomas (1970) Thomas had a string of hits in the early 70's and a number of them were Burt Bacharach tunes like this one
