I don't profess to know the rules of soccer but when the Americans scored the apparant game-winner after being down 2-0 against Slovenia on Friday you could tell that the players and fans thought the game was theirs. what's the most frustrating is that the referee, who was from Mali, did not communicate with the players as to why he was disallowing the goal. They tried speaking to him in both English and French to no avail. Yes...they got screwed...but it doesnt change the fact that they fell behind 2-0 to begin with...and coach Bob Bradley is coming under some criticism for his lineup and the uninspired first half play. Luckily...they contraol their own destiny after Algeria played England to a 0-0 draw.
Wisconsin's Jerry Kelly is only three stokes behind leader Graeme McDowell after the second round of the US Open at Pebble Beach. Not so lucky is Steve Stricker who just made the cut. Tiger is 7 back.
The Woodchucks were rained out Friday night. They Play two tonight at Waterloo before finishing the series Sunday afternoon. They return home Monday night against Wisconsin Rapids.
The Wausau Legion baseball team dropped their game with Wisconsin Rapids Friday night 7-5 in 10 innings. They host Ashwaubenon/Bayport today (Saturday) in a doubleheader at noon at Athletic Park. The Bulldogs travel to De Pere on Sunday
Songs of the Day (from my I-pod)
Full Circle-Gene Clark (1973) Clark was a great lyric writer who helped The Byrds soar high before leaving the band (because of his fear of flying (nokidding)). This was also recorded as part of an original Byrds reunion LP.
ith The Blues-Tom Waits (1974) before he became totally wierd in the 90's, Waits delivered a bunch of jazz inflected, bluesy records chronicling the underbelly of LA and the human flotsam that floats through it.
