What A Weekend

Posted by Tom King on

Man, if I have many weekends like this I'm not going to make it. The Wausau Legion baseball team, which I coach, was hosting the Region 2 AAA Tournament plus my high school graduating class was having our 35th reunion.

All of the rain we recieved late last week caused us to fall behind with the ballgames  and make for alot of work to get fields playable. Wausau has made it to the title game which will be played tonight. Because we fell behind a day with the weather and the fact that the Woodchucks are playing at Athletic Park...the two Legion games will be played tonight at Mark Simon Field at DC Everest. Wisconsin Rapids will play Stevens Point in a loser out game at 4pm with the winner to face Wausau at 730 with a trip to state on the line. it would be Wausau's 3rd concesutive trip to state which begins this Wednesday in De Pere.

The class reunion was fun. Saw alot of old friends whom I hadnt seen in awhile. In fact one womand from the old neighborhood was back in Wausau for the first time in 30 years. The place has changed a bit. For those of you who attend class reunions...it's amazing how much some people change but others look the same. I never understood why some folks just don't go to their class reunions. i know high school is a traumatic place for some but for the most part, these are the people you spent most of your formative years with...probably closer than any other group. I enjoy the how some people can talk like they see each other every day despite not having seen a person in years.

Didnt get much sleep and lived off ballpark food...makes for a groggy Monday morning.

Mad Men returned on AMC last night. I DVR'ed it but after how the last season of the show ended I'm looking forward to the storylines for this year.

Songs of the Day-  Form My Ipod

Get Off My Cloud-Rolling Stones (1965) the follow-up to "Satisfaction" was thrown together quickly. Keith Richards wrote the song but didn't particularly like it.

Get On Up-Esquires (1967) The Milwaukee vocal group hit with this catchy number about halfway through their recording career.
