Even Brett Favre's agent has seen and heard enough from his client. According to a story in Men's Journal Magazine, James "Bus" Cook lit into the Viking QB about contacting ESPN's Ed Werder stating that he needed ankle surgery to play this year. "Now why did he do that...expletive...why does he have to be a expletive drama queen" Cook continues " Play, Don't play, expletive, people are getting sick of it...I'm getting sick of it. You got problems with surgery, talk to your wife...why talk to expletive Ed Werder" Do you think Favre get's the message?...  nah...he has consistently shown that he doesn't care what people think and is goin to do whatever he wants...and what he wants is not to have to go through a long training camp.

Lou Piniella announced yesterday he will retire at the end of the season. Piniella has seen enough of his underachieveing Cubs team and wants to spend more time with his grandchildren. He certainly has been a colorful figure over the years. The things  rememeber most are his apperances in the book "Ball Four" by Jim Bouton. I's a classic book about the one & only season of the Seattle Pilots...the team that became the Brewers. It was really the first mainstream book that showed pro sports as it was, warts and all. I highly recommend it to all sports fans even today. Be aware the language and some of the stories are pretty raw. Piniella also broke my heart as a member of the New York Yankees when he made an outstanding catch that probably saved the the famous 1978 playoff game with the Red Sox.

I'll be off for a couple of days as the baseball team I coach, the Wausau Post 10 Bulldogs host the AAA Legion Baseball regional and I have my 35th High School class reunion. The Wausau East Class of 1975 is getting together Friday and Saturday nights. Stop out to Athletic Park and catch some pretty good baseball Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. It was a fertile time for this music as groups Like Chicago & Blood, Sweat & tears were working the same vein. This hard driving tune became a staple for high school pep bands as well

Get It Right The First Time-Billy Joel (1977) the Lp "The Stranger" was so full of hits that this one got overlooked. His partnership with producer Phil Ramone produced some great pop music.
