Bucks & Badgers & More

Posted by Tom King on

The Milwaukee Bucks get back into action after a night sleeping in their own beds. They host Toronto tonight in a very winnable game. they'll take what they can get after a 1-5 road trip and we will see if Jerry Stackhouse has anything left in the tank as he is expected to play after signing to replace the injured Michael Redd.

The Badgers return home to play Michigan. The Wolverines are coming off an impressive win over UConn but expect the Badgers to hold serve at home.

Lots of high school stuff to talk about from last night. Spash upset #1 ranked Green Bay Notre Dame while Wausau West edged Eau Claire Memorial. These two perennial rivals will square off again on Friday over in Green Bay as part of the "Showdown in Titletown". West handled Spash easily earlier in the year. Let's see if the Panthers learned anything from that matchup. Wausau East beat Rapids for the 2nd time this year...youd have to go back many years to find the last time that happened. I'll be with the Lumberjacks on Saturday down in Mequon as they take on Homestead in an afternoon hockey matchup...1:05 on Foxsports 1390 WRIG.

An upset in boys high school hoops last night as Colby dumped Marshfield Columbus.

Two Milwaukee Brewers signed one year deals yesterday to avoid salary arbitration. Rickie Weeks and Carlos Gomez both got raises. That leaves Todd Coffey, Corey Hart, Carlos Villunueva and Dave Bush yet to sign.

Songs of The Day

Don't Get Around Much Anymore-Hank Crawford(1965) an excellent bluesy version of the Duke Ellington classic. Crawford's background was in R & B cutting his teeth with Ray Charles but he also worked in the jazz & blues fields as well. His sax has such a great tone.

Don't Get Me Wrong-Pretenders (1986) One of the great American Bands but by this time they were really a backing outfit for Chrissie Hynde. This was a top ten hit and spawned a popular video which pasy homage to "The Avengers"
