Spring Means Comebacks

Posted by Tom King on

Despite the rain and cool temperatures that have plagued the first week of spring training in the Phoenix area, some players are still smiling. One of those is Chris Capuano who is one of the 32 pitchers in camp for the Brewers. Capuano threw a bullpen session yesterday for the first time since March of 2008. Capuano is trying to come back from his second "Tommy John" surgery for torn ligaments in his elbow. He was smiling afterwards saying the elbow felt great . Capuano was an 18 game winner for the Brewers in 2005.

The high school hockey sectional championship games are set. Wausau West and Stevens Point will square off this Saturday afternoon at Greenheck Fieldhouse. Game time is 2pm but I would advise getting there by 1230 if you want a seat. Rapids will play Onalaska for a trip to State....on the girls side, the Central Wisconsin Storm will face off with Eau Claire at Medford Friday night at 7. There will be a new boys champion this year as University School knocked off Hartland Arrowhead.

Th US Men's hockey team is back in action today at the Olympics facing Switzerland. They beat the Swiss earlier but you can't afford a let-up now. the other games today Slovakia vs Sweden, the Czech Republic against Finland and the game of the day as Canada faces off with Russia.

Happy Birthday to Abe Vigoda. He's 89.

Songs of the Day (from my I-pod)

Drive All Night-Bruce Springsteen (1979) another cut from "the River" which has been a concert favorite and used in movies like "Cop Land" and "Reign Over Me".

Drive South-John Hiatt (1988) from the CD "Slow Turning" which was loaded with good tunes and featured the great Sonny Landreth & The Goners backing Hiatt. Other people have mined the Hiatt songbook for gold but like Dylan, the author makes these songs his own.
