The Wausau Post 10 Bulldogs won the AAA State Tournament on Sunday topping La Crosse 10-8. It's the second straight state championship for Wausau and propels them into the national regional tournament in Spokane Washington starting this Thursday. They will face the Oregon state champion at 6:30 central time. The tournament will be held at the baseball complex for Gonzaga University and I'm told it's a beautiful facility. We fly out of Milwaukee on Wednesday morning.

All of the tournament games will be broadcast on the internet by KSBN Radio out of Spokane...at www.ksbn.net. You can also follow the games with a game tracker service on the national legion site at www.basball.legion.org/baseball/gametracker/northwest. The other teams in the tournament are the champions from Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and the host team from Spokane.

Wausau's Mitch Howe was the MVP of the State Tournament hitting a scorching .696 with seven runs scored, 8 rbis and stellar defense at 3rd base. He is joined on the All-Tournament team by John Roberts, Seth McMullen, Mike Parman & Jason Kyle

The AA Legion State Tournament continues Monday night (tonight) in Merrill with 4 teams remaining. Merrill will face Holmen and Rhinelander squares off with Kimberly.

Clintonville won the A State Title.

The Brewers were swept by the Astros over the weekend and seem to have fallen out of the race for a playoff spot. Will they regret not trading Fielder and Hart at the deadline? Will Melvin and Macha survive this disappointing season. It will definetly be an interesting off-season in Milwaukee.

There is a lot of Super Bowl talk going on around Green Bay . I spent alot of time in the Green Bay area this week and they are fired up about the Pack and rightly so. Aaron Rodgers looks ready to make the move into PeytonManning/Tom Brady territory and with the improving skill players and a solid defense why not think big. Can the special teams improve enough and can they get enough from the running game are the big questions for me.

Songs of the Day   (from my I-pod)

Get Ready-Rare Earth (1973) they were a white rock band signed to Motown but for a few years in the early 70's they laid down the boogie with a bunch of hits including this version of the old Temptations classic.

Get Rhythm-Johnny Cash (1956) the b-side to " I Walk The Line" was this rock-a-billy tune which shows that Cash did have one foot in the Rock & Roll world during it's infancy.
