Putting your Money Where Your Mouth Is

Milwaukee Brewer owner Mark Attanasio promised to increase the Brewer payroll when he bought the team and he certainly has done that. The payroll could top 90 million this year. The last year the Selig family owned the team the payroll was 28 million. He credits the fans for filling Miller Park the last two years but not every team in the league uses their resources to improve their chances of winning. A number of teams take any money they make from revenue sharing and puts it to the bottom line. In fact Major League baseball has sent letters to some teams...Florida and Pittsburgh are on that list...telling them to start spending some of their cash to make the team better. Brewer fans should be ecstactic that their owner is a baseball fan first. Sure, he's businessman...and a very succesful one...but he just doesnt want to own a team that makes money...he wants a team that wins as well.

Congrats to the Bucks as they make the playoffs for the first time since 2006. the tem beat Chicago last night on the road without Andrew Bogut. Irsan Illyasova scored 17 and John Salmons scorched his old team for 26.
