A Wall Street Journal reporter, Joseph B. White writer of the column Eyes On The Road, contacted me about being part of an article he was working on regarding people who love their old cars. He came across my autobody blog in which I wrote about driving my old car while my SUV was in the body shop after I hit the deer. I mentioned how much I love my 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix.
Of course I agreed, I could be in the Wall Street Journal!
Yesterday morning I recieved this email:
Nikki Montgomery-
As a car guy and former Wausau resident, I enjoyed the mention and photo of you in this morning's Wall Street Journal.
I grew up in Wausau but have lived elsewhere for more than 30 years (in Alabama, which also has a Montgomery), but still love Wisconsin, the Packers and . . . yes . . . Cars!

Later yesterday I received a facebook message from NewsChannel 7 News Director, Mikel Lauber asking how I got into the Wall Street Journal yesterday. Followed by this email from a reader and fellow Pontiac lover in Alabama:
Dear Mrs. Montgomery
Today's Wall St Journal had a very nice article on cars and I just wanted to comment on your 1995 Grand Prix. Your love for your Pontiac is not really much unlike my love for my Pontiac. Mine is a 1994 GTP, Sport Red color, same as yours. One slight difference is that mine has 17-inch wheels and the car has 74,000 miles on it. It has always been garaged and has never seen a road with salt. I wash it weekly, pat it dry, and really take care of it. It surely doesn't seem like an old car to me! Well, I am now 79, don't really care anymore in life if someone looks at me as an old man with an old car.
It made me feel so good to read your comments, those of a young mother, who understands automobiles. I hope that you can let your little girl use it when she gets her beginner's license! That time will be here way before you know it! My wife and I have been married for 56 years and I know whereof of what I speak when it comes to time flying by. Incidentally, although my wife "loves" the Pontiac, I have her driving a 2011 Cadillac CTS. There are some differences!
