Father-daughter dances violate the law! That's what school officials in Cranston, Rhode Island are saying. They say father-daughter and mother-son activities are a violation of state gender discrimination law. This all came as a result of a single mother's complaint to the American Civil Liberties Union after her daughter wasn't allowed to attend the father-daughter dance. School Committee member Janice Ruggieri believes that the school can change the dances to "family dances" to accomodate all types of parenting situations.
