You may call these ugly or painful, but the designers call them "Scary Beautiful Shoes." They are designed so that the heal looks to be in the front and your foot goes down the back pointed like in ballet shoes, then your shin is buckled in to rest along the top of the shoe so you can't straighten your knees!
If they make you think of Lady Gaga you wouldn't be wrong. They were actually sent to her almost as a dare. We'll see if they show up on the next awards show or music video.
They are created by South African artist Leanie van der Vyver and Dutch shoe designer René van den Berg. They are not actually designed to be warn they are a commentary about today's impossible standards of beauty.

To add to the message they hired a model to wear the shoes and walk in them. What the hell?! She walks like a zombie!
