Normal women do not snap back into shape 11 weeks after baby is born! Many of us don't snap back after 11 months and some of us don't ever get back.
As I was going through my summer clothes I came to the realization that I need to go shopping. Last summer's wardrobe was filled with maternity clothes and the summer before that I had a flat tummy. Even though I've lost the baby weight I put on while pregnant with Mia and I'm wearing my regular jeans again I still have a different shape. I've always been self conscious of my thighs and now it's even worse, plus I have a tummy now.
After reading a few articles and blogs about postpartum fashion I learned that I need to invest in Spanx control garments to keep my body in check and smooth lines under my clothes. I should also whip out the wrap dresses. I thought that having the wrap across my waist would accentuate my tummy, but according to Clinton Kelly from TLC's what not to wear it does quite the opposite. I should also invest in a couple of long blazers to camouflage my bust. Yoga pants were okay while I was on maternity leave and are still acceptible on nights and weekends lounging around the house, but when I leave the house it's time to put on some real clothes. I'm not sure when the, "I'm always dressed like I'm going to the gym, because I just had a baby" excuse ends, but for me it was the day I could button my regular jeans again without discomfort.
