On Saturday night my husband, Josh, took me to see Snow White and the Huntsman for my birthday. I thought it was really good. Josh enjoyed it too.
Kristen Stewart annoys me a little as Bella in the Twilight Movies because she is so weak and drab, so I wasn't sure how I'd like her as Snow White, especially when in this movie Snow White is such a butt kickin hero. She was fantastic.
After Snow White's mother falls ill and dies Snow's father, the King, is tricked into marrying an evil sorceress, Ravenna (Charlize Theron). After becoming queen she murders the King and invites her army into the kingdom to kill all the King's loyal followers. Snow was kidnapped while trying to escape with her childhood friend, William, and locked in the tower.
Ravenna, was the most beautiful woman in the land, until of course Snow White became of age. Charlize Theron was awesome as the Evil Queen. She was perfectly frightening.
Ravenna's brother, who seemed to be nothing more to her than a servant was sent to retrieve Snow for the evil queen when the crafty girl escaped. That's when the real excitement began.
Ravenna gave her servant brother the task of finding someone to go after Snow White so that she could consume her heart so she could stay young and beautiful forever.
The Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth), was offered a deal by the Queen. Once he found Snow White he learned that the Queen would not follow through on her end so he fought alongside Snow.
Of course you've got the Magic Mirror and I thought the CGI was good. Roger Ebert compared the mirror to imagery from the Terminator. The dwarfs, the poisoned apple, and the kiss that awakens her from her sleep. Snow awakes from her slumber ready to assemble her army and kick some major Evil Queen tail.
I jumped, I laughed, if I were someone else I probably would've cried. Lets not forget how hot Chris Hemsworth is, he's worth watching on the big screen. It was action packed so watching all that unfold on the big screen was pretty cool too.
The critics really didn't have much to say about this film. They rated it right about middle of the road. I think 2 1/2 stars is pretty weak. I really enjoyed it I'd give it at least 3 1/2 maybe even 4 stars.
