Hatfields & McCoys sets records

The "Hatfields & McCoys" miniseries continued to be a blockbuster for the History channel, setting a new ratings record.

Wednesday's finale drew 14.3 million viewers. All three nights - six hours - rank as the top entertainment telecasts in ad-supported cable history.

Monday night's start of the story of the famous feuding families - starring Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton - drew 13.9 million. Tuesday pulled in 13.1 million.

The "ad-supported cable" record allows History to exclude "High School Musical", which averaged 17.2 million on Aug. 17, 2007. Disney Channel doesn't sell traditional ads. And ESPN's "Monday Night Football" also has exceeded the "Hatfields" number several times.
