I don't know about you other new moms, but I've been feeling the pressure to get this baby weight off. Mia is 8 months old and I can't fit into half my clothes...well I can, but they don't all look good and there's a difference!
It seems that most celebrity moms get their bodies back weeks after delivering their babies, but they have lots of help, trainers, dietitians and nutritionists keeping a very short leash on them. Lucky for me normal women are not like that. In fact, for most women it takes more than a year to feel normal again. According to a new poll of British women, it can take as many as 409 days for moms to not only get their figure back, but also for their sex drive to return. 15% of those polled admitted to never really getting back, both physically and mentally, to where they were before the baby. 43% of women said that getting back to work helped them feel normal again.
I guess I shouldn't feel too bad about the way I look. I haven't had anyone comment about my baby belly at least. Now if I were a celebrity they would. No wonder they call in the troops to help them bounce back into red carpet shape so quickly.
Hilary Duff was photographed in a bikini last week, just three months after giving birth to son Luca. While she still has some baby weight to lose, Hilary was shocked at just how mean some people were about her look. “A month or so ago I was concerned that she wouldn't even try to lose weight,” wrote one online critic. “Now I'm convinced she doesn't even care how she looks, gross!” Added another, “She's turned into her mother. That happens.” Well, Hilary didn’t take the negative comments lying down. “Say it to my face,” Duff dared her critics. “I don’t care what people say. I’m not back to where I want to be, but I’m not stressing it. I’m not perfect, but I feel fantastic.”
As a celebrity not living up to expectations you really need to have a thick skin. I'm glad Hilary does. Or at least I hope she does.
