Yesterday I was feeling very down on myself. We obviously have Mia eating out of a bottle during the day while I'm at work, but at home I've been breastfeeding her. Last evening she was acting hungry so I tried to feed her and instead of taking it she screamed and cried so hard she started choking on her drool! We calmed her down and tried again and I go the same reaction. I stripped her and tried holding her skin to skin for a while and tried again and she still wouldn't have it. At this point it has been over 3 hours since she last ate so I know she's hungry. I was so upset I almost cried. I told Josh that he would have to feed her from a bottle, but he insisted that I keep trying. He is such a wonderful support person. She tired herself out from crying so she fell asleep in my arms. I just held her until she woke and then carried her upstairs and tried again. Now it's been 4 hours or more since she last ate. She cried again. Once she calmed down I decided to try the otherside and voila! She did it! She didn't eat long, but she ate! She didn't fall asleep well so I don't think she filled herself up, but once she did fall asleep she didn't wake up to eat again until this morning.
Do you have any advice for successfully switching back and forth from a bottle to the breast?
