I blogged about the Million Moms group up in arms about Ellen DeGeneres being in another commercial. They are against it simply because she's gay and I think that's spreading a message of hate to our young people and I don't think that's right. You can see the commercial, read a quote from their website about it and read my own comments here.
This morning we talked about it on the air and we had a ton of comments on both sides. The people who sided with the Million Moms were respectful in their arguments stating that they have as much right to stand against gays as Ellen has to be gay.
There were, however, a couple of comments siding with Million Moms that I felt were disrespectful and hurtful toward me specifically.
This first one was a text:
I do not believe the word hate should ever be used in reference to a person. I was raised in a household where we were not allowed to even use the word. I did say that I hate the message that this group is delivering. I hate that by saying these things they are spreading hate. The fact that they use religion as a defense for their argument makes me sad because the message I take from my religion is love and forgiveness not hate.
I apologize if I offended anyone today, but I do not take back anything I said.
