My Niece Riley Nicole is here!

Riley NicoleOn Friday 4/20/12 my sister went into the hospital to have her baby. She was scheduled for a C-section on Wednesday 4/25, but Riley decided she wanted to come earlier. My sister's water broke sometime in the 3am hour and Riley was delivered via C-section at 9:31am. Riley Nicole, 6lbs 13oz 18 1/2in.

It was a little scary at first. My sister was on the operating table and after they took Riley away my sis heard one nurse say "I don't have a pulse and she's not breathing." She heard them pumping the bag for CPR then the other nurse said, "Ok I have a pulse."

After that they had to put Riley in an oxygen bed and my sister couldn't hold her or even look at her because Riley had to be in the nursery and my sis couldn't walk after her surgery. Finally around 4 Riley was doing well enough to try nursing. The first time my sis got to hold her new baby girl was six and a half hours after she was delivered. She was nursing Riley when Josh and I arrived. I was so happy to hear that it was going well. She latched on well and was a hungry little baby. She's still on a very irregular feeding schedule, but eating well.

My 5 year old nephew Hayden isn't sure what he thinks of his new baby sister. He loves Mia, but Mia goes home and Mia can smile at him and interact with him. Riley is so little and boring. He's going to be a very good helper though and my sister will need it because her husband has to go back to work next week Wednesday. My mom is taking Wednesday off, but after that she's on her own. After a C-section it's hard to be on your own with a newborn after a few days.

Now that Riley is here I can't wait for my next two nieces to arrive. Elizabeth my brother's little girl is due in early May and my brother in law's daughter Addison is due late June.
