Pets and babies

kolby and mookieI have two dogs and I'm a little concerned about how they're going to react to having a baby around. They are both big babies and need lots of attention, but they've both been around babies before and have been super. Kolby, our Boston Terrier from the Marathon County Humane Society pretty much ignores babies after sniffing them a little. Mookie, the Pugle we inherited from my brother and sister in law when they moved into a pet free apartment, is all about babies. He likes to be around them and he doesn't mind if they pull his ears or tail. When he's had enough he gently pushes the baby's hand away with his paw.

Kolby is pretty oblivious to what's happening to me he steps on my belly and he tries to lay by me and push my belly out of the way. Mookie on the other hand will sniff my belly and lay with his head on my lap and is pretty gentle with me.

The thing that worries me most about Kolby is that the vet told me that he has the start of cataracts and could lose his eyesight. I know he'll get around fine even if he can't see, but will it be okay with a toddler running around? I don't want him to be scared of the baby. The vet said it could be many years before he is blind so we shouldn't worry too much.

Both of our dogs are sweet as pie and would never do anything to hurt anyone. Kolby may try to lick you to death, but that's about as vicious as he gets. Mookie likes to pretend he's tough by barking, but the second someone barks back he hides behind Kolby.

What is the best way to introduce dogs to the baby?
