Waiting game

babySometimes it's kind of strange to think that there's a miniature human being in my belly. She no longer looks like an tadpole or an alien, she actually looks like a baby in there. I imagine she has my eyes and Josh's nose, my smile and Josh's ears, and Josh's blond hair that will eventually turn brown.

This amazing little creation can hear, see, swallow, suck, move, grab, feel warm and cold, and even breathe. All of her organs are fully developed and ready for the world outside the womb.

This little person is going to be born soon and she'll recognize our voices, but see our faces for the first time. She won't be able to see much more than 8 inches in front of her face for a while and she won't be able to see colors right away either.

She'll be out of her tight surroundings so she'll like to be swaddled so she doesn't startle herself with her wild arm movements. It will comfort her to be held close so that she can hear the sound of my heart like she did inside the womb.

She'll give us clues that she's hungry and hopefully we catch them before she starts to cry. She'll need us for everything. Especially love. And after how long we struggled to have her we have more than enough love to give. We are so ready for this new chapter of our lives and so excited for the challenges ahead.
