Surprise homecoming

When a 9-year-old girl from Boca Raton, Florida was asked to be in a spelling bee at her school, she wondered why since the school never had one before. She had no idea it was part of a plot.

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Therron Johnson surprised his daughter during the mock fourth-gradespelling bee. When she correctly spelled s-e-r-g-e-a-n-t, her father stepped out from behind the curtain.

They held each other as applause echoed through the school.

The emotional reunion was repeated at his son’s Middle School, where he picked up his unsuspecting son.

By way of thanks, the Army vet gave each school a U.S. flag that was flown in Iraq.
