I need an elephant

elephantIt's time for me to get a pet elephant. If it's true what they say, "an elephant never forgets" I need to have one by my side at all times because this pregnancy brain is killing me!
It is so bad I can't remember if I washed my hair while I'm still in the shower only seconds after I've rinsed it. Unfortunately my pet elephant won't fit in my bathroom. I forget if I've called so and so to tell them such and such and I'm starting to forget whether or not I fed the dogs and let them out. Thank God I've got an understanding husband who is very good at reminding me to take my vitamins.
I'm wondering how bad it's going to get because riding an elephant to work sounds fun, but is just not feasible. Will I forget to tie my shoes? Will I overdose on the lotion because I can't remember if I put any on?
What causes this forgetfulness? There's no proven cause so experts think it's just because we're distracted. Pregnant women are so distracted thinking about baby related stuff that they simply forget unimportant things. Research shows that nothing really happens to our short term memory while pregant I guess it just can't hold everything on our minds.
The cure for forgetfulness? Make lists, relax and assign a specific place for things you tend to lose. For instance if while pregnant you cannot remember where you put your keys, when you get home always put them in the same spot so you don't have to try to remember what you did with them.
Did/do you have pregnancy brain? What did/do you do to deal?
