infant cprMy husband Josh and I went to the Early Pregnancy Fair at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital last month which was an introduction to all the other classes Ministry Health Care has to offer. We got to talk to a pediatrician, a lactation specialist, a nutritionist and many other people about what we can expect from the other classes and what we need to be prepared for come November.

We are 5 months along now so we're ready to start learning about the important stuff. Ministry Health Care offers lots of great classes for expecting parents. My mom is jealous because when she had us ALL they had for classes was lamaze which is still available and I intend to take it as D day draws nearer. There's a laundry list of classes you can choose from that teach you everything from how to install a car seat to proper breastfeeding techniques. I want to go to all of them! Some are free and some have a small fee.

We are taking the Infant Care Basics/Infant Safety class next week at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital. This class teaches expectant parents the basics of caring for their new baby. It will also give us helpful tips on making our home safe and teach us infant CPR (though this is not a CPR certification class). It's three hours long and it only costs $25.

As soon as we found out we were pregnant Josh said, we need to take infant CPR. He is certified in CPR, but the certification class focuses on people 8 and up with a brief mention of small children and babies. So when I found this class on the list of classes offered through Ministry Health Care I knew we had to take it.

Like I mentioned there are a lot of great classes offered through Ministry Health Care. Josh and I are taking one each month so we are prepared. If you want information on classes available please visit http://ministryhealth.org/eventscalendar/COE.aspx

I will let you know how this one goes in next week Wednesday's blog.
