Today I'm thinking about American Idol of course. We are in the top 16 on American Idol.

The top 8 girls competed last night and it was awesome! Two ladies will say their goodbyes on Thursday night and I think it is pretty obvious who should go home, but America never seems to vote my way.

Let's do like the judges and start off with the good.

Crystal Bowersox was AWESOME! Singing Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason" her bluesy voice is perfect for Tracy type music. Simon said, "Right now you are the one everyone has to beat, I'm telling you." I agree one million billion percent with Simon.

Didi Benami has such a unique voice and last night she blew me and the judges away with Fleetwood Mac's "Rihannon". The judges commented on how great a performance it was especially considering how badly she was torn apart last week.

Lacey Brown performed "Story" by Brandi Carlisle which put her back on track according to the judges. She did a really great job. There is just something about that girl I like. It might be her sunny disposition or her unique look I'm not sure.

Lilly Scott played the mandolin while singing Patsy Cline's "I Fall to Pieces" which Kara said she somehow made sound current. Simon thought it was good, but lacked the "WOW" factor and Randy loved it. I gotta go with Simon on this one.

Siobhan Magnus did "House of the Rising Sun" by the Animals which was in my opinion a good performance, but far below performances she's done in past weeks. Simon was under impressed, Kara loves that she's unique and different and Ellen was captivated by her performance.

Katie Stevens is such a cute young lady, the youngest of the girls left in the competition, but she just didn't come through for me last night singing Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway". She wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. Simon and Kara both think Katie is confused about what kind of artist she wants to be. Both Ellen and Randy said poor song choice and I have to agree with them. However, I don't think it was bad enough for her to go home.

Paige Miles performed "Smile" and it was her worst performance to date and possibly the worst performance of the night or at least tied for the worst (listen to the clip below). Paige, I had such high hopes for you! Wrong song that's all I can say. The judges felt that she misunderstood the song completely and that ruined her performance. I'm afraid this may be the end of the road for her. If the voters take into consideration only last night's performance when voting.

Katelyn Epperly, not only tried to sing a Carol King song, but she tried to look like her too. Carol King "I Feel the Earth Move" is such a great song and she murdered it last night. The judges didn't feel like she connected with the song. She said she didn't want to be "corny" again this week. I think she's on her way out the door.

The top 8 guys perform tonight on Fox at 8pm and 2 guys and 2 girls pack their bags on Thursday's results show at 7pm.
