7. WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE, May 3, 2000, 36 million viewers
Three "Millionaire" episodes from the same week in May are clumped together on the most watched list as Regis fever swept the country. ABC was criticized for airing this flashy new game show three or even four nights a week. Though we'll never know if the network's scheduling saturation was to blame for the show's demise two years later or if the game show's popularity with viewers was destined to be short-lived.

The Fox reality show with the meanest twist in television history. Evan Marriott was a construction worker who was to put on a facade that he was a millionaire looking for a wife. At the end of the Bacheloresque show Zora Andrich was told the truth and their relationship didn't last, neither did the show.
2. SURVIVOR: PALAU, August 23, 2000, 51.7 million viewers

1. FRIENDS, May 6, 2004, 52.5 million viewers
The series finale of "Friends" for me was bitter-sweet. The forever end to my favorite comedy show, but the inspiration for my husband's proposal. Following the finale my husband proposed the same way Monica proposed to Chandler it was brilliant!
The final "Friends" was the most-watched entertainment telecast in 6 years, and it has never been surpassed. A finale that stayed true to the series, the "Friends" closer was well liked by fans and concluded with slow pan across Monica and Chandler's empty apartment.
