Danny Gokey- Out of the Shadows

Danny Gokey grew up in a full house. Danny shares, "Being number five out of six was real interesting. We grew up in a family that didn't have much, but we never knew because the love was so great in our family." Gokey adds, "You know, compared to families out in third world countries, we had a lot more than they did." So how would Danny describe himself when he was a kid? He reveals, "Being number five, I was very soft-spoken, very nerdy growing up. I didn't have my own identity. I think that took me many years to decide that. I remember a point in high school where I was just, 'I don't wan't to be that person anymore. I don't want to be the guy who gets picked on.' And so I came back and I started being funny. And I started singing and people started noticing that I had a talent. I just started becoming confident, because I knew that if I didn't become confident, that I'm always gonna be in this little shadow."
