Packers Clinch Playoff Birth with Seahawks Blowout

PackersThe Packers finally sewed up their bid to the playoffs on Sunday.  The Packers needed to win and have the Giants or Cowboys to lose and both the Seahawks and Giants complied.  The Giants look like they quit on their season losing 41-9 to the suddenly hot Carolina Panthers.  Meanwhile, the Packers blew out the lowly Seahawks 48-10.

After a disappointing 4-4 start, including two losses to the Brett Favre-led Minnesota Vikings and one to the then winless and starting a rookie quarterback Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Packers are now 10-5 and currently sitting with a 5 seed.  Having won 6 of their last 7, with that one loss being a one point loss on the final play of the game, the Packers have picked a fine time to be playing their best football.

Next week's game at the Arizona Cardinals is a potential preview of the Packers's Wild Card match up.  The Dallas Cowboys, the current sixth seed, will travel to Philadelphia to play the Eagles who are they are currently matched up to play in the Wild Card round.  It will be interesting to see how much each team chooses to show in their game plans and how long the starters will play.
