First, we heard that Brad Paisley was considering a seat at the "American Idol" judges’ table.

Apparently, Toby Keith has already passed on the gig. He tells the Inland Empire Weekly for an Aug. 2 feature that "Idol" producers contacted him earlier this month about joining the recently hired Mariah Carey.

Toby's publicist said:  "He was flattered, but he did turn it down".

A 22-week taping schedule would conflict with his frantic touring schedule, not to mention his golf game.

As for Brad Paisley, his publicist and label claimed no knowledge of "Idol"'s interest in him.

Despite the denials, inside sources (at Country Aircheck) hear meetings are set for this week to discuss the feasibility of meshing Paisley's touring and business schedule into the 'Idol" timeline. The show airs Jan.-May 2013, with auditions currently underway.
