Wausau, WI – Tensions flared earlier this afternoon at the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce Expo during a campaign stop by local radio personalities and non-political candidates, Bryan Scott and Nikki Montgomery of 101.9 WDEZ.
A Midwest Daily Tribune Reporter was on scene as Scott and Montgomery’s official campaign bus arrived at The Patriot Center at 10am this morning.
After descending from the bus, Scott/Montgomery 2012’s new campaign manager, Clayton Haultquist, told the assembled press that the campaign stop would begin with an opening speech by Montgomery, leading into another speech from Scott, followed by a Q&A session.
15 minutes later, Montgomery took to the podium accompanied by Scott.
“My fellow Wisconsinites, I come to you today with a message of Integrity, Sincerity and Hilarity, but first…I have GOT to tell you about the fish I caught this weekend.”
It was at this point that Scott groaned.
“Serious as a heart attack, yo,” Montgomery continued, now with arms extended. “It was this freakin’ big. I [EXPLETIVE] you not. I thought I caught a shark at first!”
It was at this point that Scott, visibly agitated, decided to interject.
“Are you kidding me? Again with the fish? No flippin’ way! I was there. I saw the fish. We’re talking a standard walleye here. I’ve eaten fish sticks bigger than that.”
“You’re just jealous that all you caught was a dumb ‘ol carp,” Montgomery retorted. “Heck, you couldn’t catch a fish in a barrel!”
“Oh yeah?” Scott replied. “You couldn’t catch a cold at the North Pole!”
The scene quickly devolved into a series of “Yo Momma” jokes.
The scene was broken up 5 minutes (and dozens of insults to mothers) later by Wausau Police Officers who were already on scene investigating the theft of a Metro Ride bus that had taken place earlier that day.
Scott/Montgomery 2012’s new campaign manager, Clayton Haultquist, tendered his resignation moments later.
