Hank Williams, Jr.’s “All My Rowdy Friends” was pulled from this week’s Indianapolis-Tampa Bay game on ESPN yesterday. The network said on its website the decision was made after the singer “made controversial comments about President Barack Obama” on Fox NewsFox and Friends Monday morning. “While Hank Williams, Jr. is not an ESPN employee,” the company said in a statement, “we recognize that he is closely linked to our company through the open to Monday Night Football. We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from [Monday’s] telecast.” The song has been part of the weekly event on both ABC and ESPN since 1991.

  • RELATED NEWS: Hank said in a statement released later on Monday that he was “misunderstood.” A portion of the statement reads: “Some of us have strong opinions and are often misunderstood. My analogy was extreme – but it was to make a point. I was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to me – how ludicrous that pairing was.”
